Pepperell is 0-1 against Trion since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Pepperell Dragons will head out on the road to face off against the Trion Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Pepperell sitting on four straight victories and Trion on seven.
Pepperell's and Darlington's matchup on Friday was close at halftime, but Pepperell turned on the heat in the second half with 22 points. Pepperell put the hurt on Darlington with a sharp 35-10 win.
Pepperell relied on the efforts of Tyler Rogers, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns, and Sam Ross, who rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries. Rogers is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Trion took their match on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 52-17 win over Chattooga. With Trion ahead 28-3 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Toby Maddux was on fire: he rushed for 309 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries. Maddux's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Trion also got a significant boost from Zach Camp, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 82 yards.
Pepperell's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points per game. As for Trion, their win on Friday bumped their record up to 7-0.
Pepperell was taken down by Trion 42-7 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Pepperell, Logan Eller (who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.6 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
