The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs will venture away from home to face off against the Cascade Cadets at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Franklin Community is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
Franklin Community will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Mooresville, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Grizzly Cubs walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Pioneers on Wednesday.
Bryleigh Carlisle-Haltom made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Addie Martin was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Aubrey Leugers was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Cascade made easy work of Hamilton Heights on Friday and carried off an 8-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Like Franklin Community, Cascade also got a great game from a two-way player: Grace Gray. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Gray has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Allen, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Grace Parks, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Cascade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hamilton Heights only managed six hits.
Cascade pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin Community, their record now sits at 8-5.
