Kaylie DeChicchis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, North Stafford let Addy Aragon and Kaylee Lizardo run wild. Aragon went 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double, while Lizardo got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Aragon has posted since back in March. Kyleigh Campbell was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Gar-Field was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to Charles J. Colgan.
Gar-Field saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Desiree Bruffy, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Ly Na Nguyen also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Gar-Field's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for North Stafford, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Gar-Field's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. North Stafford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Gar-Field, though, as they've been averaging only 2.5 strikeouts. Will North Stafford keep running through batters, or will the Red Wolves buck the trend?
Everything went North Stafford's way against Gar-Field in their previous matchup back in March, as North Stafford made off with a 14-0 victory. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Red Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
