Basketball Recap: Kaelyse Mitchell Key Part of a Team Effort in Panthers Win

Jeffersonville typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Evansville Reitz proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victor by a 61-35 margin over the Jeffersonville Red Devils. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evansville Reitz to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaelyse Mitchell, who went 6 for 8 en route to 13 points in addition to seven boards and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Keilah Mitchell, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Despite the defeat, Jeffersonville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alyviah Lewis-Redd went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for Lewis-Redd.

Evansville Reitz has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Jeffersonville, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.

Evansville Reitz wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-45 defeat against Castle on the 21st. Jeffersonville has also already played their next game, a 57-54 loss against Seymour on the 21st.
