Camila Olvera made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she's hit this season.
In other batting news, Mia Gonzalez and Gia Perez did most of the damage at the plate: Gonzalez scored a run while going 1-for-1, while Perez went a perfect1-for-1 with one triple and one run. Vivica Cruz also deserves some recognition as she hit her first hit of the season.
Veterans Memorial was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over San Benito.
Like Veterans Memorial, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo also got a great game from a two-way player: Arieanna Hernandez. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Hernandez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Arianna Lugo, who went a perfect2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Veterans Memorial, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
