Basketball Recap: Bishop Verot Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Bishop Verot, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Community School of Naples Seahawks 44-41. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Seahawks are ranked 287th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Verot had a senior duo take command as Gavin Williams went 7 for 10 en route to 24 points and four steals and Jerry Ashley posted eight points in addition to 11 boards and four blocks. Ashley has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last seven times he's played.

Bishop Verot's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for Community School of Naples, their record now sits at 9-9.

Bishop Verot has already played their next contest (against Golden Gate), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Community School of Naples will face off against Aubrey Rogers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
