Softball Recap: Westmont Hilltop Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

While Westmont Hilltop didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past the Bellwood-Antis Blue Devils 11-1 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hilltoppers, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Addy Dunbar was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Liz Veranese was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Kist, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Westmont Hilltop kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.

Westmont Hilltop pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.5 runs. As for Bellwood-Antis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westmont Hilltop will venture away from home to square off against Richland at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hilltoppers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. As for Bellwood-Antis, they are taking a road trip to take on Tyrone at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
