Baseball Recap: Lecanto Comes Up Short

Lecanto was the 4-2 winner over Dunnellon when they last played one another back in March of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Lecanto fell 12-9 to Dunnellon on Monday. The Panthers just can't catch a break and have now endured five losses in a row.

Dylan Czerwinski made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Wilson, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Lecanto's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Dunnellon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lecanto will face off against Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Dunnellon, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Dunnellon Tigers face off against Forest Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Their pitchers better be ready for this one: Forest has averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
