Luis Romero- Orellana was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with six stolen bases and three runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Briden Luckett also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Independence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .692. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Marion-Franklin, as they earned their first away win of the season. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over South on Monday. The game was the first time the Red Devils have beaten the Bulldogs on their field since April 19, 2023.
Marvin RJ Robinson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Aldo Castro, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
The win got Independence back to even at 3-3. As for Marion-Franklin, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
