It was a good run, but the Nonnewaug Chiefs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 67-54 to Wamogo Regional. Nonnewaug was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wamogo Regional apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Wamogo Regional's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Delello, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Quinn Coffey, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds.
Nonnewaug's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Wamogo Regional, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Nonnewaug will challenge Housatonic-Wamogo at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Housatonic-Wamogo has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 27. As for Wamogo Regional, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Gilbert at 7:00 p.m. Gilbert comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
