The West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors entered their tilt with the Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. West Florida Baptist Academy claimed a resounding 65-35 victory over the Gladiators on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-12.
West Florida Baptist Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shepard Brown out in front who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Brown pulled down eight or more rebounds. Stewart Brown was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Several Gladiators players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was John DeFore, who scored eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Dean Fillmore, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two steals.
West Florida Baptist Academy has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-11 record this season. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Florida Baptist Academy will take on the at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they will be playing at home against the at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Santa Rosa Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses.
