Woodcreek is 8-2 against Roseville since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Woodcreek Timberwolves will look to defend their home court against the Roseville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Woodcreek is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Roseville in California (Woodcreek is ranked 111th, while Roseville is ranked 317th).
On Wednesday, Woodcreek got the win against River Valley by a conclusive 71-50. With Woodcreek ahead 44-16 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Woodcreek can attribute much of their success to Joey Nielsen, who scored 11 points, and Max VanLaningham, who scored 13 points. Tyler Hennessey was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Roseville was the victim of a rough 75-49 defeat at the hands of Antelope on Wednesday.
Despite the defeat, Roseville saw an underclassman step up: Oreste Yong scored nine points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Santiago Barbonier, who scored eight points.
Woodcreek's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Roseville, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-10.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Woodcreek have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 20.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Roseville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything came up roses for Woodcreek against Roseville when the teams last played back in January as the squad secured a 70-39 win. Will Woodcreek repeat their success, or does Roseville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
