The Terrell County Greenwave lost against the Monroe Golden Tornadoes back in November of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Terrell County fell to Monroe 52-46. It was the first time this season that Terrell County let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Terrell County still got an impressive performance from Jentaiya Rushing, who scored 16 points. The game was Rushing's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tadreuna Rogers, who scored ten points.
Monroe found their leader in underclassman Kie'Aundria Acree, who dropped a double-double on 33 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it 14 consecutive games in which Acree has scored at least 25% of Monroe's points. Ciarra Lunsford was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with three steals.
Terrell County's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4. As for Monroe, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-6.
Terrell County will head out on the road to face off against Randolph-Clay at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Monroe, they will be playing at home against Crisp County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Crisp County is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
