Madison County has gone 8-1 against Aucilla Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Madison County Cowboys will square off against the Aucilla Christian Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Madison County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Munroe a 20-0 shutout on Thursday. The Cowboys not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 12, 2024.
Micah Newman was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Newman was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Madison County got a big performance out of Micah Jenkins, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Jenkins a new career-high in RBI (three). Jake Murphy also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Madison County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, everything went Aucilla Christian's way against Godby on Thursday as Aucilla Christian made off with a 22-9 victory. Considering the Warriors have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Madison County, Aucilla Christian also got a great game from a two-way player: Shaw Lundy. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lundy has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has become a key player for Aucilla Christian: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-4 otherwise.
In other batting news, Caleb Walsh was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Aucilla Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Mills, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.
Madison County's record now sits at 4-5. As for Aucilla Christian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Madison County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Aucilla Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Madison County couldn't quite finish off Aucilla Christian when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Madison County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
