Softball Recap: Thornton Fractional North Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Thornwood, Thornton Fractional North was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Proviso East Pirates with a sharp 18-3 win. For the Meteors, this counts as revenge for the 21-5 victory the Pirates walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Thornton Fractional North got a massive performance out of Janiah Alphonse, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. What's more, Alphonse posted two hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Stephanie Montiel was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Thornton Fractional North lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Thornton Fractional North's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2. As for Proviso East, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Thornton Fractional North has already played their next match, an 18-0 loss against Illinois Lutheran on the 31st. As for Proviso East, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 18-16 victory against Steinmetz College Prep on the 29th.
