Dematrius Davis
and No. 2 North Shore (Houston) won their 29th consecutive game with a
dominant 56-14 victory over Ridge Point (Missouri City) to advance to
the semifinals. The Mustangs are two wins away from
winning their third consecutive state title.
Davis finished the afternoon with five total touchdowns giving him 58 (37 passing, 21 rushing) on the season. The Mustangs will take on No. 10 Westlake (Austin) after the defending 6A Division 2 champs rolled past Steele (Cibolo) 34-0.
In the Texas 5A Division 1 quarterfinals No. 9 Ryan (Denton) beat No. 24 Highland Park
(Dallas) 17-7 to advance to the semifinals for the fifth
consecutive season. It was the first win for the Raiders against the
Scots since 2004.
No. 19 Cedar Hill did not take its first lead of the game until overtime when Tennessee signee
Kaidon Salter connected with
Javien Clemmer from 15 yards out for the walk-off score. The Longhorns won 27-24 and will face
Eli Stowers and Guyer (Denton) in the 6A Division 2 semifinals on Jan. 9.
