Evansville Reitz is 9-0 against Evansville Mater Dei since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Evansville Reitz Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the Evansville Mater Dei Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Evansville Reitz focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Friday.
Last Friday, Evansville Reitz was able to grind out a solid victory over Vincennes Lincoln, taking the game 61-52.
Evansville Reitz can attribute much of their success to Jaylan Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Jayce Swanson, who scored 16 points along with 6 assists and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Swanson has scored at least 25% of Evansville Reitz's points. Evan Hayes was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Meanwhile, Evansville Mater Dei ended up a good deal behind Southridge on Saturday and lost 64-49.
The losses dropped Evansville Reitz to 1-1 and Vincennes Lincoln to 3-3.
Evansville Reitz beat Evansville Mater Dei 64-52 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evansville Reitz since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
