Sebastian River has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Jensen Beach Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Sebastian River will be strutting in after a win while Jensen Beach will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, Sebastian River didn't have too much trouble with St. Edward's at home as they won 47-32. Given Sebastian River's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while St. Edward's is ranked 658th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sebastian River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amarion Smith, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Andrew Simpson, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Jensen Beach struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (Centennial had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Jensen Beach was beaten by Centennial 74-45. Jensen Beach was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-19.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jason Curry jr., who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Sebastian River's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Jensen Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Sebastian River strolled past Jensen Beach in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 63-49. Does Sebastian River have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jensen Beach turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
