The Barker Bulldogs will square off against the Alexander Trojans at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Barker's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Medina as they made off with a 12-0 win. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Mady Flint made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Elise Monaco and Madelina Pavlock did most of the damage at the plate: Monaco got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Pavlock went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave Pavlock a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Stoll, who earned one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.
Barker was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Alexander had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 11-1 win. With that victory, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Emily Pietrzykowski made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, Alexander let Melanie Bump and Ava Yax run wild. Bump went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Yax went 2-for-3 with three runs. Faith Goodenbury also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Alexander's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Barker, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Alexander's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Saturday. Barker has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Alexander, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Barker keep running through batters, or will the Trojans buck the trend?
Barker couldn't quite get it done against Alexander when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Can the Bulldogs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
