The West Laurens Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 76-59 to Dodge County. While losing is never fun, West Laurens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Dodge County is ranked 87th).
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trantavious S, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points S has scored all season. Dorian Watkins was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
It was another big night for Will Jordan, who scored 33 points for Dodge County. Jordan's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for five games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaedon Mcclendon, who scored 14 points.
West Laurens dropped their record down to 2-15 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Dodge County, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-1.
West Laurens will be playing in front of their home fans against Westside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Westside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Dodge County, Dodge County and Worth County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Worth County has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
