AA District 8 recap October 8, 2013
Upperman added to the longest winning streak in AA District 8 this week by beating York Institute, 56-0. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Bees.
Smith County made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,484 from 8,017. The advance stemmed from a 16-3 victory over Livingston Academy last week.
Upperman's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bees feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Connor York has thrown for 929 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Robert Stepehenson has 13 catches for 249 yards. York also leads the league in rushing with 1,112 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when DeKalb County takes on the Dragons. As it stands, the Tigers are in second, while York Institute is in third.
Upperman led AA District 8 in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Dragons. York threw for 224 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 154 yards in the win.
