In what's become a running theme this season, the Air Academy Kadets gave their fans yet another huge win on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cheyenne Mountain 74-35 at home. Air Academy is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 12 straight.
Air Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caitlin Kramer, who scored 23 points along with six assists and five steals. Kramer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Lydia Flowers was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with five assists.
When it comes to explaining why Cheyenne Mountain lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ainsley Norton. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 54.3% of Cheyenne Mountain's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Air Academy pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season.
Air Academy will stay at home for another game and welcome Palmer Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Air Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten contests -- so hopefully Palmer Ridge likes a good challenge. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they will head out on the road to square off against Discovery Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
