The Owen Warhorses's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 72-55 fall against Mitchell. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Loss or not, Owen got some senior leadership from Ellie Martin who scored 20 points and Tinley Clark who scored 13 points. Martin scored a full 36.4% of Owen's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Owen's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Mitchell, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owen will finish 2023 at home by hosting East Henderson at 10:50 a.m. on Wednesday. Mitchell will be home for the holidays to greet Patton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Patton is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
