The Williamsville Bullets will face off against the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Williamsville has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since April 26.
Deer Creek-Mackinaw hit Williamsville with a four-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bullets took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chiefs.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Warrensburg-Latham, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Argenta-Oreana a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Cardinals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.
Evan Gottman and Peyton Garver made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gottman pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Garver tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. At bat, Gottman went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Garver went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Garver has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nathan Southern, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Nick Shelsta was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Warrensburg-Latham always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Williamsville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Warrensburg-Latham, their victory bumped their record up to 22-5.
