After flying high against Anna-Jonesboro last Friday, the Carterville Lions came back down to earth. Carterville came up short against the Massac County Patriots on Saturday, falling 59-52. The result was an unfortunate reminder to the Lions of the 62-53 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head last month.
Carterville's loss pushed them down to 12-13. The win makes it two in a row for Massac County and bumps their record up to 21-5.
Carterville is staying on the road Friday to face off against Nashville. Carterville is the clear underdog, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one. Massac County has the luxury of staying at home another game and will welcome Herrin Friday. Herrin is also hoping to continue their momentum after a 63-53 victory over Oregon on Saturday.
