Trans Valley League recap October 8, 2013
Ripon extended the longest winning streak in Trans Valley League this week by beating Modesto Christian, 35-13. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Indians.
Escalon moved up to 331 from 383 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Cougars climbed the ranks as a result of topping Hughson 31-11.
Nick Price was a passing and rushing force as Ripon beat the Crusaders. He completed 12 passes for 219 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 23 yards. Price's key target this week was Bradley Clark, who caught 10 passes for 151 yards.
Michael Ysit was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 9 carries, he ran for 110 yards as Chris Johnson's team bested Modesto Christian. Ryan Fugit also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.
5-foot-10 quarterback Tanner Pruett of Orestimba is the league leader in passing yards this season with 907. He has also thrown 6 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Tyler Robinson. The Hilmar star has 26 catches for 355 yards.
The Huskies are in third place, while the Indians are in first place.
The Warriors lost to Hilmar 49-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. Pruett was a bright spot for Orestimba, as he threw for 120 yards in the defeat.
