Hernando has won three straight games at home, while Wildwood has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Leopards will welcome the Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Hernando will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each match than the last.
Hernando is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 46-0 victory over Classical Prep. The final result isn't all the surprising considering the Leopards' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Lions are ranked 193rd).
Hernando's receiving core played a big role in the win, headlined by Carlie Grant and Alexis Sway. Grant rushed for 54 yards and one touchdown on only six carries while Sway gained 56 total yards and four touchdowns. An impressive showing, but Sway really ramped things up playing D: she picked up five sacks and made seven total tackles (6.0 for loss).
Hernando didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Savanna Condron and Ayana Kincade.
Meanwhile, Wildwood didn't have too much trouble with West Orange on Wednesday as they won 26-12.
Wildwood found their leader in freshman Zoey Brown, who threw for 155 yards and four TDs. Brown didn't just play on offense: she also made two total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Wildwood's defense and their three sacks. Ranyla Jackson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up a sack all by herself.
Hernando has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.4 points over those games. As for Wildwood, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0.
Things could have been worse for Hernando, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 20-6 loss to Wildwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Brown, who threw for 171 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 38 yards and one score. Now that the Leopards know the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
