TAPPS Division I District 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Bishop Lynch was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in TAPPS Division I District 1. Earlier in the week, the Friars triumphed over Lakeview Centennial 13-10.
Prestonwood Christian was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Roosevelt 66-0. The Lions came in at 17 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Stephen Riegel was the best wideout in the league this week as Prestonwood Christian beat the Mustangs. Riegel tallied three receptions for 84 yards. Michael Irvin helped Prestonwood Christian's passing attack out by catching four balls for 41 yards.
Foster Ford put up the best numbers through the air as Liberty Christian bested Grace Prep. He finished with 16 completions for 181 yards and three touchdowns.
Mickey Mitchell was the most productive running back in the league this week. In nine carries, he ran for 75 yards as Chris Cunningham's team bested Roosevelt. Grayson Warren also contributed to the rushing game with 75 yards on the ground.
Trinity Christian's Daniel Davidson and Nick Plumlee have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading TAPPS Division I District 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Davidson has thrown for 1033 yards this season, while Plumlee, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 22 catches for 308 yards. The Lions' Warren leads the league in rushing yards with 611.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Prestonwood Christian takes on the Warriors. As it stands, the Lions are in first, while Liberty Christian is in fourth.
Prestonwood Christian extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Wayne Ingram's team, 66-0. The victory was the fourth in a row for the Lions.
