The Richland Royals struggled with assists on Friday (the Colleyville Heritage Panthers had 11 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Richland received a tough blow as they fell 49-33 to the Panthers. Richland has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Richland had strong showings from Bree Hartfiel, who scored 11 points, and Katie Laufer, who scored five points. Hartfiel continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Colleyville Heritage to victory, but perhaps none more so than Journee Hampton, who scored nine points along with five assists and three steals. Hampton hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Suliane Davis was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Richland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season. As for Colleyville Heritage, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-9.
Richland will head out on the road to take on the Hawks at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Birdville is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak. As for Colleyville Heritage, they will be playing at home against the Falcons at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
