Baseball Recap: Pottstown Extends Winning Streak to Three

Pottstown hadn't done well against Pottsgrove recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans came out on top against the Falcons by a score of 6-3. Winning may never get old, but the Trojans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Cole Boyles made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Reece Murphy was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Shawn Pallay, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Pottstown pushed their record up to 4-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Pottsgrove, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Pottstown will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Pope John Paul II at 4:00 p.m. Pottstown's pitchers better be ready for this one: Pope John Paul II has averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Pottsgrove, they will head out to square off against Upper Perkiomen at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
