The East Carter Raiders took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They snuck past St. Joseph Central with a 49-45 victory. That's another feather in the cap for East Carter, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Kinsley Rutledge, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Randa Mcguire, who scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds.
St. Joseph Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Gallion, who scored 18 points along with 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Candra Frazier, who scored 12 points along with 5 rebounds.
East Carter's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for St. Joseph Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Carter will challenge Bath County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Joseph Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Ironton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
