LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The MaxPreps/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) High School Player of the Week award returns for 2012 with high school fall softball seasons now underway.
As a result of her outstanding efforts during games played from August 20-27, the NFCA has selected sophomore catcher/third baseman
Jessica Johnson of
Aquinas (Augusta, Ga.) High School as the MaxPreps/NFCA High School Player of the Week for August 27.
Johnson hit a remarkable .647 overall during the Fightin' Irish's 4-2 week, going 11-for-17 at the plate with 12 runs scored, three home runs, six stolen bases and nine total RBIs. Included among her outstanding efforts for the week were a perfect 3-for-3 day at the plate with a HR, three runs scored and two RBIs in a 9-1 victory over Jenkins (GA), a 2-for-4 performance with a HR and four RBIs in a 13-3 rout of Hephzibah (GA) and a 2-for-2, HR, three-RBI tally during a 7-0 shutout over Laney (GA).
She currently boasts seasonal numbers of a .632 batting average, a .650 on-base percentage, a 1.211 slugging percentage and 13 runs scored while also possessing a sterling .987 fielding percentage.
MaxPreps.com, the official high school statistical provider of the NFCA, provides all statistics for the NFCA High School Player of the Week award. To nominate a player for the award, the coach must enter his or her athlete's game stats into MaxPreps.com by Sunday evening to be eligible for that week's award.
The MaxPreps/NFCA High School Players of the Week will be announced on NFCA.org every Monday during the spring season, with one representative chosen from each of five separate high school regions. During the fall campaign, just a single player will be selected representing all participating regions.

Coaches who enter their team's stats on Max Preps will not only be nominating their players for this award, but they will be getting their team's information out to thousands of high school sports fans, as well as college coaches across the country.
