AAAA Region VII recap Oct. 16, 2012
Wando extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region VII this week by beating Stratford, 42-7. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Goose Creek took down Cane Bay 55-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Caleb Kinlaw ran for 185 yards and caught one passes for one yards in the win.
The Gators' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Dantez Bennamon threw for 100 and two touchdowns and Tramel Terry had 73 yards receiving. Rico Blanding helped Goose Creek's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.
Goose Creek's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Gators feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Bennamon has thrown for 588 yards and six touchdowns this season, while Terry has 30 catches for 367 yards. Kinlaw leads the league in rushing with 746 yards.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between Wando and Goose Creek. Bob Hayes' team comes into the matchup ranked sixth in the state, while Chuck Reedy's team ranks third.
West Ashley made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,923 from 6,036. The improvement was the result of 56-45 victory over the Wildcats last week.
