The Laney Buccaneers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 52-25 victory over Swansboro at home. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up ten more assists than your opponent, as Laney did.
Laney's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aniece Lewis, who scored 14 points along with 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Lauren Bastable, who scored 15 points.
Laney's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Swansboro, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laney will take on Northside - Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on November 29th. As for Swansboro, they will be playing at home against Southwest Onslow at 6:00 p.m. on November 30th. Southwest Onslow and Swansboro are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
