After both having extra time off, the New Glarus Glarner Knights and the Waterloo Pirates will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waterloo took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on New Glarus, who comes in off a win.
New Glarus took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Marshall, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Glarner Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Cardinals on Tuesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Glarner Knights as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.
New Glarus was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (107-95), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 16-25, 26-24, 13-25, 15-12.
Meanwhile, Waterloo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cambridge.
The final score came out to 25-16, 25-20, 15-25, 25-17.
New Glarus will need to focus on slowing down Madi McCarthy, one of several Waterloo players who made an impact when they last played. She had ten digs and one assist.
New Glarus' victory bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Waterloo, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-7.
New Glarus came up short against Waterloo when the teams last played back in September, falling 3-1. Can the Glarner Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
