Shiprock Chieftains (Shiprock, NM) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the host Aztec Tigers (Aztec, NM), 53-47 in a league bout.

With the win, Shiprock upgrades its record to 11-10 on the season. The Chieftains travel to Farmington (Farmington, NM) to play the Scorpions in a 4A District 1 bout on Friday, January 25. The Scorpions go into the bout with a record of 4-12. Farmington lost 49-39 in their recent league bout against Piedra Vista (Farmington, NM)

Next up, the Tigers play the Piedra Vista Panthers (Farmington, NM) in a 4A District 1 bout, on Tuesday, January 29. Aztec will attempt to upgrade on its 4-13 season record. The Panthers go into the bout with a 9-10 record after their 74-54 league win over Kirtland Central (Kirtland, NM).
