Belen Eagles (Belen, NM) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Moriarty Fighting Pintos (Moriarty, NM), 70-62 in a league bout.

With the win, Belen upgrades its record to 12-10 on the season. The Eagles host Grants (Grants, NM) to play the Pirates in a 4A District 5 bout on Tuesday, February 19. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 11-12. Grants won 58-54 in their recent league bout against Albuquerque Academy (Albuquerque, NM)

Next up, the Fighting Pintos play the Del Norte Knights (Albuquerque, NM) in a 4A District 5 bout, on Tuesday, February 19. Moriarty will attempt to upgrade on its 4-21 season record. The Knights go into the bout with a 2-22 record after their 71-31 league loss to St. Pius (Albuquerque, NM).
