Penasco Panthers (Penasco, NM) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the visiting Pecos Panthers (Pecos, NM), 66-59 in a league bout.

With the win, Penasco upgrades its record to 3-9 on the season. The Panthers travel to Santa Fe Prep (Santa Fe, NM) to play the Griffins in a 2A District 2 bout on Friday, January 28. The Griffins go into the bout with a record of 10-3. Santa Fe Prep won 52-49 in their recent league bout against Monte Del Sol (Santa Fe, NM)

Next up, the Panthers play the Monte Del Sol Dragons (Santa Fe, NM) in a 2A District 2 bout, on Monday, January 31. Pecos will attempt to upgrade on its 8-11 season record. The Dragons go into the bout with a 7-7 record after their 57-45 league loss to Mora (Mora, NM).
