The Newcomb Sky Hawks got by the host Grants Pirates softball squad by a count of 15-14 in Saturday's non-league battle.

The Sky Hawks (1-3) will now prepare for their battle against Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM). The Cougars go into the non-league battle with a 0-3 record. In their last bout, Tohatchi was edged by Wingate (Fort Wingate, NM), 10-6, in a non-league bout.

The Pirates now possess a 0-11 record. They play next when they host Los Lunas for a 4A District 6 bout on Tuesday, April 2. Grants will confront a Tigers squad coming off a 4-2 non-league win over Valencia (Los Lunas, NM). The Tigers record now stands at 12-4.
