The crowd at Monday's non-league bout between the Shiprock Chieftains (Shiprock, NM) and the host Tohatchi Cougars (Tohatchi, NM), observed Shiprock's softball team get by Tohatchi by a tally of 16-10.

The Chieftains (5-5) will now prepare for their bout against Kirtland Central (Kirtland, NM). The Broncos go into the 4A District 1 bout with a 12-4 record. In their last bout, Kirtland Central was routed by Carlsbad (Carlsbad, NM), 8-3, in a non-league contest.

The Cougars now hold a 1-9 record. They play next when they travel to Navajo Pine for a non-league contest on Tuesday, March 31. Tohatchi will face a Warriors squad coming off a 8-7 non-league win over Zuni (Zuni, NM). The Warriors record now stands at 3-3.
