Dunkirk would not get the opportunity to play in the NYSPHSAA Tournament, as the COVID-19 pandemic prematurely ended the 2019-2020 high school sports season in New York.

The bucket helped keep the Lady Marauders withing striking distance, as Southwestern led 39-33 at halftime. O'dell had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds and finished her high school career as Dunkirk's #2 all-time leading scorer with an unofficial total of 1,156 points. Beehler finished the contest with a double-double of her own; she had 15 points and 11 boards to go with seven assists and three steals.

The miss cemented Dunkirk's victory, giving the school its first Section VI girls basketball championship since 1991.

Iroquois trailed Dunkirk 77-65 with under 3:00 to play in the Section VI Class B-1 finals at Buffalo State College before going on an 11-0 run to close the gap to one point. With 10.5 seconds remaining, Chiefs sophomore Zoey Zienski had a chance to tie the game at the free throw line. She had made the first shot to make it a 77-76 game. Here, Zienski misses the second free throw. Senior Logan Streety then grabs an offensive rebound and tries to give Iroquois the lead, but her putback is off the mark. Dunkirk senior Nadara O'dell secures the defensive board to preserve the Dunkirk lead with 5.8 seconds left.

Dunkirk senior Nadara O'dell tracks down a rebound and goes coast to coast for a layup while getting fouled in the closing seconds of the Section VI Class B-1 semifinals against City Honors on March 5, 2020 at Starpoint High School. O'dell, who would eventually be named CCAA Division 1 West Player of the Year and named to the NYSPHSAA Class B 4th Team, finished the contest with 23 points and eight rebounds in an 85-74 victory for the Lady Marauders.

The bucket was part of a career-high 34-point effort from O'dell as the Lady Marauders won 82-70 to improve their overall record to 14-1.
