Pine Eagle Spartans (Halfway, OR) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad nip the visiting Joseph Eagles (Joseph, OR), 42-41 in a league bout.

With the win, Pine Eagle upgrades its record to 1-10 on the season. The Spartans travel to Wallowa (Wallowa, OR) to play the Cougars in a 1A Old Oregon bout on Friday, January 25. The Cougars go into the bout with a record of 5-12. Wallowa lost 45-30 in their recent league bout against Imbler (Imbler, OR)

Next up, the Eagles play the Cove Leopards (Cove, OR) in a 1A Old Oregon challenge, on Friday, January 25. Joseph will attempt to improve on its 1-14 season record. The Leopards come into the challenge with a 8-8 record after their 68-48 league loss to Powder Valley (North Powder, OR).
