I joined CBS/Maxpreps in 2015. I spent many years shooting the BVAL high school sports for a local newspaper. My photography bug started at a very early age, remembering my early shots of Willie Mays at Giants games with my simple black and white film camera.
Growing up playing sports, having many sports heroes and the love of photography is what got me to where I am today. I graduated from Liberty High in Brentwood and Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill, CA, so my sport photography interest lies mostly here in the BVAL or East Bay Area.
The exciting thing about sports photography is the challenge to get that special shot and freeze that special moment in time for everyone to enjoy. It takes knowing where and when to be in the right spot at the right time for that special shot. As in many things, a little luck helps as well.
These kids are putting a lot of blood sweat and tears into their sport. It makes me feel good inside that I can play a part, so they can take these great memories with them on their journey of life.
