Jim Stout is a veteran of 48 years of sports writing, editing and photography in the New York area.

A graduate of the University of Texas College of Communications, Stout is a CBS MaxPreps photographer. He most recently served for 10-plus seasons as the MaxPreps Media Manager for the Eastern U.S.

He began his communications career in the mid-1970s, working as both a writer and photographer in Connecticut, then spent the next 15 years as a daily newspaper reporter and freelance writer covering the NHL in the Northeast. He later moved into the internet writing, editing and publishing fields in the 1990s before returning to the photography medium in 2004.

Stout was a reporter and photographer for the Danbury News-Times from 1977 to 2006. He also covered the NHL for the Middletown (NY) Times-Herald-Record during the 1980s and early 1990s.

In addition, Stout served as a Northeast columnist for D3Hoops.com and D3Football.com. He has been a MaxPreps photographer for 19 seasons and is a member of Nikon Professional Services.
