Hello Maxpreps fans!

My name is John McCoy, and if that name sounds familiar it is because my byline has appeared under my photographs for many, many years.

I was a staff photographer at the Los Angeles Daily News and So. Cal Newsgroup for over 30 years. When I transitioned into the freelance world, I signed contracts to shoot sports with Gettyimages, APimages, Icon Sportswire and as a contributor to Maxpreps. I also continue to shoot sports for SCNG, and love the energy and enthusiasm that prep athletes bring to every game.

I have covered World Series, Super Bowls, Rose Bowls, and NBA championships, but I would rather have a sideline pass to a high school game anytime. Parents, coaches and student athletes go the extra mile to succeed in school and sports. That hard work, and sacrifice by athletes and their families, should be rewarded with great photos that capture the moments in sport that create memories for a life time.

Prep sports help student athletes become successful in life, be it on the field or as a working professional. You all deserve recognition for your dedication as student athletes, parents and coaches.
