The Austin Maroons routed the host Leander Lions softball squad by a count of 6-1 in Friday's non-league battle.

The Maroons (10-5) will now prepare for their battle against Akins (Austin, TX). The Eagles go into the 5A Region IV District 25 battle with a 0-2 record. In their last battle, Akins was routed by King (Kingsville, TX), 11-0, in a non-league battle.

The Lions now sport a 1-2 record. They play next when they travel to Vista Ridge for a 5A Region II District 16 battle on Tuesday, March 9. Leander will meet a Rangers squad coming off a 3-0 non-league win over Tuloso-Midway (Corpus Christi, TX). The Rangers record now stands at 10-5.
