Carthage Bulldogs (Carthage, TX) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Elysian Fields Yellowjackets (Elysian Fields, TX), 2-0 in a non-league challenge.

The Bulldogs now own a 4-0 record. They take the field next when they host Athens for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 3. Carthage will battle a Hornets squad coming off a 8-1 non-league loss to Chapin (El Paso, TX). The Hornets record now stands at 4-2.

With the loss, Elysian Fields falls to 8-5 on the campaign. The Yellowjackets travel to Nacogdoches (Nacogdoches, TX) to battle the Dragons in a non-league challenge on Saturday, February 28. The Dragons enter the challenge with a record of 1-2. Nacogdoches lost 7-4 in their recent non-league challenge against Whitehouse (Whitehouse, TX)
