The Payson Lions baseball team (Payson, UT), was overwhelmed 16-6 in Thursday's league outing with the host Timpview Thunderbirds (Provo, UT)

The Thunderbirds now hold a 6-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Springville for a 4A Region 7 outing on Tuesday, April 7. Timpview will face a Red Devils team coming off a 22-13 league win over Orem (Orem, UT). The Red Devils record now stands at 3-5.

Next, the Lions face the Mountain View Bruins (Orem, UT) in a 4A Region 7 outing, on Tuesday, April 7. Payson will attempt to advance on its 2-4 season record. The Bruins enter the outing with a 1-11 record after their 8-7 non-league loss to Lehi (Lehi, UT).

Casey Rumsey, Ben Daniel, and Trevor Whittingham absolutely overwhelmed the highly touted Payson Lions. Rumsey was 4-5 with two doubles, a triple, and 4 RBIs and scored 4 times, including the game ending run. Whittingham was 3-4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Daniel was 2-4 with a triple and 4 RBIs, and also pitched a complete game with 5 strikeouts. Skyler Cusick did not want to be left out as he threw in 3 more RBIs on two hits. Freshman Adam Wynn had two hits and scored twice, and Max Forrest scored three times as the Thunderbirds pounded out 16 hits on the day and shredded three different Lions pitchers.
