Spectators at Wednesday's non-league battle between the Goochland Bulldogs (Goochland, VA) and the visiting Bluestone Barons (Skipwith, VA), saw Goochland's baseball squad knock off Bluestone by a count of 8-5.
The Barons now possess a 9-10 record.

Both Goochland's and Bluestone's starting pitchers struggled early. After two innings the game was tied 5-5. Coleman Duty relieved Bulldog starter Tanner Bradshaw after one inning and Jordan Martin relieved Baron starter Matthew Owen with just one out in the 2nd and closed out the inning with the first of three Baron double plays. Martin pitched into the 5th inning and was then relieved by Keith Patrick. Goochland got the go-ahead run(s) in the 3rd inning when Tanner Bradshaw reached on an outfield error, Coleman Duty (run for by CR Chase Doczi) got a hit and Colby Noel drove them both in with a line shot to the left/center gap. Three Bulldogs had a couple hits: Scott Carter (2-4, double/single, 2 runs scored, 2 SB), Coleman Duty (2-3, 2 runs scored) and Colby Noel (2-3, 2 RBI, 1 run scored, 1 SB). Reid Chenault and Michael Nadder both reached base 3 times on walks and each scored a run. The third win of the season over Bluestone sends the Bulldogs to the district championship.
