In Thursday's non-league challenge, the Honaker Tigers (Honaker, VA) baseball squad the visiting Gate City Blue Devils (Gate City, VA), by a final score of 4-1.

With the win, Honaker upgrades its record to 15-1 on the season.

With the defeat, Gate City falls to 10-11 on the season.

Gate City and Honaker locked up in the Region D tournament for the third time in four years and the Tigers came out on top in a 4-1 contest. The Devils season comes to an end and they finished with a 10-11 record. The Tigers advance to play J.J. Kelly for the Region D title and a right to host the Region C runnerup. Austen Arnold took the hard loss as the Tigers scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd via a walk, a hit batsman, and 3 hits. Arnold finished the season with a 4-6 record. Wes Hughes relieved Arnold and shut the Tigers down allowing only 3 hits in his four innings. Arnold, Cory Franklin, Derrick Miller, Ryan Smith, and Justin Miles each had a single in the game and Jordan Tipton drove in the Devils only run with a ground out in the 1st inning. Gate City loses only 2 seniors, Nick Bright and Wes Hughes and will return 7 juniors, 3 sophmores, and a freshman all of which started at least one game this year.
